What Is SKINVIVE?

SKINVIVE is an injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) treatment made of tiny microdroplets of HA gel placed just beneath the skin’s surface. HA is a substance your skin already produces, and it attracts and holds moisture. SKINVIVE was the first HA microdroplet injectable approved by the FDA to improve skin smoothness of the cheeks in adults over 21, and it is approved for all skin types and tones.

Unlike traditional fillers, SKINVIVE does not change your facial shape or add volume. Patients tend to describe the result as a healthy, hydrated glow. Clinical studies have shown that results last up to six months.

What to Expect During Treatment

Your visit begins with a consultation to review your skin goals and medical history. On treatment day, your cheeks are cleansed and prepared, and the product, which contains a small amount of lidocaine for comfort, is placed with a series of fine, superficial injections.

Most people return to their day right away. Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, small bumps at the injection sites, or tenderness can occur, and these typically resolve on their own. Many patients notice a fresher look within days to weeks as the product settles and hydrates the skin. Your provider will explain aftercare and recommend whether a follow-up session makes sense for you.

How SKINVIVE Compares to Similar Treatments

Traditional dermal fillers (Juvéderm, Restylane, Sculptra): These restore volume, contour features, or stimulate collagen. SKINVIVE focuses on skin quality, meaning smoothness and hydration, rather than structure. The two can complement each other.

Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Newtox): These soften expression lines by relaxing underlying muscles. SKINVIVE doesn’t affect muscle movement, so it addresses a different concern: dry, dull, or rough-textured skin.
